Anna Scionti is a renowned Australian blues musician and a favourite of mine. She is the 2023 winner of the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society's Blues Performer of the Year (Solo section) in 2023 and a finalist in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2024. I have enjoyed her live performances many times. This portrait attempts to capture her immersion in the music. My work utilises minimalist, hard edge abstraction and vibrant colour. I am a keen portraitist and enjoy juxtaposing the larger, flat areas of colour in the face and body with the more detailed, linear rendition of hair.
