Aftermath

Aftermath is a confronting portrait series that explores the psychological residue of catastrophe rather than the event itself. Repeating a single figure across multiple canvases, the work captures fractured emotional states through distorted faces, hollow eyes, and silent screams. Cold blues and greys dominate the palette, creating a sense of numb desolation, while violent white scratches cut across the surfaces like scars, symbolising lasting trauma. Distant hints of red-orange suggest destruction pushed to the background, reinforcing that the true damage exists internally. The uniformed, isolated figures reflect collective trauma and loss of identity, leaving the viewer suspended in the unresolved space between survival and understanding.
