Wetlands Beauty

This latest wetlands abstract is deeply connected to my love of the Australian landscape and those fleeting moments where light transforms even the quietest places into something magical. I wanted to capture the feeling of the wetlands as the land shifts between water, grasses, mud, and sky, a place that feels both expansive and intimate at the same time. The glowing yellow-greens and rich olive tones move across the canvas like sunlight dancing over marsh grasses, while the earthy browns and ochres ground the work in the rugged beauty of the terrain. Above it all sits a soft, silvery blue-grey sky that creates a beautiful sense of stillness and atmosphere.

Throughout the painting, I have used loose gestural marks and expressive scribbles to suggest the movement of birds sweeping through the air and the energy carried by the wind across the wetlands. I love allowing these intuitive marks to remain raw and spontaneous, as they bring life and rhythm to the composition. For me, this work is about contrast and quietness against movement, softness against energy, light against earth. It is a reflection of the wild beauty of these Australian wetland spaces and the emotional connection I feel when immersed within them. I wanted the piece to feel luminous, untamed, and contemplative all at once, inviting the viewer to pause and become lost within its atmosphere.
