Unfolding

‘Unfolding’

“Sometimes the most meaningful changes are the ones we never planned.”

Inspired by the colours and textures of Australia’s salt lakes, Unfolding reflects a growing connection with the earthy tones and natural contrasts that make these landscapes so captivating.

Burnt ochres, rich browns and deep olive greens meet soft peach, blush and ivory. The colours shift across the canvas, moving between darker, grounded passages and areas of warmth and light. Created entirely with a palette knife, the layers and expressive marks give the painting a sense of movement, revealing new details as your eye travels across the surface.

When I first began painting, I had a clear idea of where I thought the journey would take me. With each new piece, however, I’m discovering that my natural inclinations don’t always follow that original plan. I’m increasingly drawn to the earthy colours of the Australian landscape, and I’m learning to trust that instinct rather than trying to direct it.

Perhaps that’s what Unfolding means to me. Not a sudden change, but a gradual discovery of what feels right — allowing my work to develop naturally, one canvas at a time
