a painting of an old dairy milking shed called Bails, on the Wooli road at Tucabia.
Situated in the Clarence Valley Northern NSW.
This rural area once was prosperous farming area with many families having herds of dairy cows. The herd was milked twice a day by hand in these small sheds and the milk was collected in metal containers and the sent to the butter factory at Ulmarra. The coastal belt all along NSW had a dairy industry, until Margarine ran advertisng claiming that butter was bad for you.
Many farms lost their incomes and some switched to Beef cattle, some went under and the butter factories shut.
this old bails sits beside the road, the roof is rusted and some sheets of tin are missing. The walls are missing some boards and the timber has greyed the back wall has timber props preventing collapse.
