Tree Signalling

Trees are conscious beings, continually signalling to each other. Of course we can't physically see this, but we know, from the biologists and fungi experts that there is a vast network of mycelium beneath our feet through which signals continually pass. In this painting, a solitary figure hugs a tree within a grove. all around there are points of light drifting through the evening air. They may be pollen, fireflies or signals in the air as the trees talk to each other. You as the viewer are free to decide. 

The opening between the trees draws the eye towards distant hills, while the warm colours create a feeling of stillness curiosity and connection. 
Painted in oils, with layered texture, this work balances abstraction and landscape. It reminds us that nature communicates in ways we don't notice unless we slow downwind become still with her.
