I wanted to create a painting with thick brushstrokes to emphasize the act of painting rather than absolute and smooth realism. I use non natural colours to create shape and shadows reminescent of Fauvism. I have contrasted the tactile realism of the oysters with the bold geometric background. I like using a top view perspective to capture the geometry of the table and the plate.
