Everytime you look at this print, you will see different little details and it will become a talking point in your home. A work you will never get tired of.
"After The Fire" represents the beauty that results from Bushfires. I cam across Cyanicula sericea (Silky Blue Orchid) in the bush and noticed they were growing in the charred remains from a summer bushfire. I was inspired by the kaliedoscope of colour and the contrasts of orange and blue.Â
For most terrestrial Orchids in Australia, fire during their dormant periods has no adverse affects on the growth. Some species respond very well to fire during the dormant stage by eventually flowering profusely usually six months later. This is due to the gases produced from the fire. If fire occurs whle the Orchids are actively growing the flowering and seeding stages can be destroyed, ruining the chance of survival.
