Night-time Florals

"Night-time Florals" is a large botanical painting showcasing large Australian native plants such as the Banksia alongside smaller plants like Billy Buttons. I was inspired to create this painting while searching my own garden for some interesting plants to paint, wanting to create a large, almost abstract piece.

When I couldn't find anything in my own yard I started thinking about where I could go locally to find some native plants and when I walked into my bedroom I took a different look at a dried flower arrangement I received almost two years ago for a housewarming gift.

It's a beautiful arrangement and takes up quite a bit of space, and when I looked at it through a different perspective I started seeing the possibilities. The arrangement itself is made of quite neutral colours and I wanted to offset those neutral colours with a bright blue background.

I've painted the flowers and leaves of some of the plants very large as I wanted the painting to have an impact - it currently hangs in my front entrance so it packs a punch as soon as guests enter the house!

This stretched canvas measures approximately 48" (H) x 36" (W) or 122cm (H) x 91cm (W) and is ready to hang.
