Tea and Cake in Porcelain
Tea and Cake is part of a body of work I created using the idea of cakes as both a stage, and a container. I continue to create them with a sense of playfulness. The objects on the top of the cake are usually symbols drawn from my paintings. Tea and cake draws on comforting times and celebrations too. Good stuff in other words! The body is wheel thrown in porcelain, with a clear glaze. The teapot and icing are hand built. The inside is painted a beautiful deep vibrant red, using the Amaco velvet underglazes which look so cool unglazed. You can store things in it but I wouldn't suggest food - although the surface is non toxic.
