Artist CV​/​Bio Marion Hughes ph: 0403520422 email: mjmhughes@live.com.au I have been painting for the last 35 years and 30 of those years have been in mainly watercolour​,​ acrylic and mixed media. I have always been interested in drawing and painting and an introduction to Decorative Art got me started. The subject matter I like to paint is very varied including wildlife and birds​,​ landscape​,​ still life​,​ florals and recently portraiture and figures. Over the years​,​ I have attended several workshops with well known artist​/​tutors mainly at Mitchell School of Art held at Charles Sturt University situated at Bathurst NSW. Tutors who have influenced me are Keith Norris​,​ Barry & Lucy McCann​,​ Joseph Zbukvic​,​ Denis Clarke​,​ Herman Pekel​,​ Ron Muller​,​ Neil Taylor​,​ Lorraine Lewitzka​,​ John Lovett and Amanda Hyatt​,​ Paul Margocsy and Kasey Sealy​,​ just to name a few. I spent a year at Werrington TAFE​,​ NSW to hone my skills as I am predominantly self taught and needed some professional guidance. I am presently undergoing more art study at CQU. Finished my Certificate III in Visual art in 2025 Over the years I gained the confidence to exhibit my work and even undertaking a Solo exhibition in August 2007​,​ 2008​,​ 2013​,​ 2015 and 2016 and in 2025 a combined exhibition with Marloes Bakker-Marsden at Russel Island Art Gallery​,​ Russell Island​,​ Qld 2025 In 2010 I was privileged to be asked by Helen Goldsmith to teach her class for a term as she was ill. This led to me teaching a class for Children aged 6 to 12 and also being offered my own class to teach. I was teaching a class of my own in Nambucca Heads as well and found I had found a niche. I now teach my own classes and workshops in Gladstone and by request and have an experience of knowledge to pass on to those who are willing to learn. I am willing to travel if your art group requires a workshop.
