Hello, I'm Amanda O'Sullivan.
Through my playful approach to collage, I create whimsical worlds where logic meets the absurd. I hand-cut and assemble images of people and places from old books, layering them on brightly painted backgrounds to form surreal landscapes where objects float, suspended in space and time. In contrast, my artist books take on a gentler mood, using whites, muted tones, and natural fibres to explore the delicate forms of birds. These small studies often unfold into sculptural interiors, offering quiet reflections on shape and structure. I’m a Brisbane-based artist working in collage and artist books. I completed my Fine Art degree at QCA South Bank in 2008 and later worked as a sessional lecturer at Griffith University. Now a school teacher, I continue to exhibit my work, with several solo shows and many group exhibitions behind me. My artworks are held in private and corporate collections across Australia.
