The colours and forms are inspired by the sea, reef and rockpool life and the microscopic-worlds within. I add tiny fragments of plastic, sourced from years of beach combing, to my paintings. Sometimes using the plastic, moulded and faded by the sea, as a formal colour device and sometimes as an invisible trace. Either way it is the notion of the plastic being there (visible or not) that is important as well as adding colour and texture.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; line-height: 16.8667px; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"\u003eUltimately the painting is about connecting to our sense of awe and wonder at the beauty of nature and the miraculous building blocks of all life. The hope is that the painting triggers a contemplative experience for the viewer. The circular organic motifs and the organic cluster patterns allude to cellular life forms, dainty aquatic-life and to the visceral otherworldliness of the building blocks of life like cells, amoeba and molecules.
